Final Project Form
Which of the words given in the brief document have you selected, and why?
Globalisation: I chose this because globalisation is constantly evolving and growing, so I wanted to capture this concept that some people may not even be aware of and show the growing contrast and the impact globalisation has on our society. As someone who enjoy walking through nature paths to go to work or see family I thought it would an interesting chance to compare and contrast the way globalisation is changing nature.
What do you want to point your camera at?
Nature itself, to capture the way these man made object are destroying nature and turning it into products in an urbanisation society.
Why are you interested in this subject?
I am interested in this subject as growing up in Spain, I was surrounded by an overgrown nature that I loved when I was younger. I want to capture this same imagery that I found amazing but to also contrast to the way globalisation has changed nature itself and turn this land into a concert jungle in order to sell products to consumers.
What do you hope an audience will take from your images?
I hope these images will shock my audience into realising what we are destroying into to create building and different products. I want people to see how beautiful nature can be but how on a daily base it continues to be destroyed.
What areas of research are you considering to help deepen your understanding of the subject you have chosen?
Through many internet article that have addressed these issues have helped understanding my understanding, through my research I understand the growth of globalisation but what it does to the planet and nature.
What practitioner(s) or visual resources would you consider to have influenced you? This not have to be photographic.
A big influence for me came from the photographer Eric Pickersgill. While his picture are fairly different from my own he took pictures of people looking at their phones and then took pictures of them with their phones removed, in order to show their dissociation with the world around them. My images will also convey this message through the way nature has been destroyed and just how unaware we are of the damage we do to it.
What support or equipment might you need to achieve your goals?
I will need a Canon EOS 400D/ Digital Rebel Xti. 10.1MP Digital SLR and a Samsung Galaxy A5

Exploring Lincoln
Practicing taking still life images in order to improve my techniques but to also experiment for different angles and practicing taking pictures of still life which I hope to use in my final project.
Skate Pictures (Practicing different angles and focus)
I often enjoy walking and skating and the multiple different location. Lincoln has many different ones to offer so I wanted to try and experiment with these locations, also I wanted to experiment with lighting such as what a darker area with street lights portrays compared to the same area when its has natural lights coming in.
Portrait Pictures (Known people and Strangers photos)
After the workshop on portrait pictures and experimenting in the studio, I wanted to try and experiment with pictures where I had full control over them e.g. lighting, location to which I took pictures of my cat and auntie in my house where I could control the lighting and there location which came out very nicely. This in contrast to one night while out skating I met some other skater and asked if I could take a picture of one for my coursework. The main difference I found was how my auntie was more natural in front of the camera while the stranger was a little more awkward as this was a random photo taken of them.
Practicing Portrait Pictures
From the workshop practicing taking portrait pictures which will help with the my further work on my blog and possibly my final project.
Interior of Lincoln University
Experimenting with different angles within the media building I ended up liking this shot due to the complex look of the stairs and the way it angles in the picture.
Researching interesting Photographers: Irving Penn
I have Found Irving Penn photographs as at first they appear to me very simple but there is a lot of details in them. Although they first appear to be simple black and white photos the details that have been put into each images make them fascinating. considering most of the work for fashion photography the way these images have been edited make each of them feel unique and stand out. This has helped me as it shows that even the most simple portrait photograph can become really unique and cool when used in this way. Images found at: https://www.irvingpenn.org/
Still Life Photos
Experimenting with different objects has allowed me to try out different camera and different lighting effects. The first photo is of bottles that I got from my flat mates and red cups from my friend, I wanted to create a nice symmetrical feel to it with each side being a mirror of the other. The lighting was set to be stronger in order to bring out the colours in the image as I felt there was a lot of strong colours from the items that I wanted to bring out in the photo. The second image came from me borrowing my friends gumball machine and using it to create a meal like set up I also used the lighting to make it feel like a normal meal. This was too make sure that the gumball machine stood out in a photo where it shouldn’t be in.
Out and About Photos
I’ve used this opportunity to take multiple pictures in Lincoln. I have chosen my favourite two that I have taken, the first one is of the stairs in my accommodation. I have mainly experimented with the picture being in black and white as it helps show the layout of the stairs. the second is from the bridge I took the photo out of focus in order to experiment with the lights too see the effect it would have on a picture out of focus.

Week 2 Workshop Photos
Exploring Advertisement Within Lincoln
The reason behind me taking a photo of this image was that it’s imagery drew me into and the message came off as strong and interesting. The photo offers a colourful location in the white walls of Boot’s, so while walking around the interesting yet simple colours drew me into it. after the colour drew me into this. The location with the waterfall drew me in, giving the idea of a unique and tropical location it offered to me as the consumer the idea of travelling and exploring new places. this is further shown by the small cartoonish plane on the picture that infers the idea of travel and seeing this helps bring the image together. this is overall put together by the text that tells us of this product that is being sold and how it matches the theme of travel and flight. This image stood out too me in a plain white area as being something yet colourful and too the consumer something that stands out and is an interesting photo to look at.
