Seminar Task 2 Descriptive Task (The Swan Pub Descriptive Writing)

The busy room of the Swan is as busy as ever. With noises surrounding the area as people talk, shout and laugh. The clinking of glass as people drink as much of their drink as psychically as their friends cheer them on. The only noise that matches that comes from the pool table where people yell in celebration as they compete against each other. The smell of the Swan carries the smell of beer through the places a tangy smell that isn’t all that nice but is a very familiar smell. the visual of the Swan are engaging and interesting as it keeps its familiar and interesting look about it while remaining simple and welcoming to all people, while through the window you can see all the boats parked up as they sway in the water.

Seminar Week 2 Task (Analysing Photo)

1) My picture has a very technological and futuristic feel to it, image like this were very commons in the mid too late 2000s and the colour seems to push towards an exciting new time period so I’d have the time period is likely in the late 2000.
2) The Image doesn’t give any much of where it could be however based on the woman has a British look to her but the location feels very American to me with it’s different colours and the cool and detailed look it has going for it.
3) the overall atmosphere is impossible to talk about without mentioning the green beyond a bit of white the screen is dominated by green and it’s as if the idea that green represent wild life and the white and the idea of collusion between the two. the woman in a sense represent this clash as she is seen holding a book unsure which way to head forwards.
4) this is clearly a set up photo and woman is not only aware of the photo but more than likely has been directed how to sit and pose, she’s looking away from the camera as if too show confusion in this area as if she truly isn’t sure what to think of the area remaining wary and unsure.
5) To look uncomfortable and too not make eye contact with the camera as if she shouldn’t be in the picture and looks more lost than anything else.
6) I think more than anything the creator wants the image to stand out it’s unique and different and it’s meant to infer the idea about breaking away from the norm and exploring what the world has to offer.
